Jessica was a delight to draw.
Fall 2005

Jessica had impressive musculature.
Early 2006

Lauren was a professional dancer, and had a figure that was the most amazing combination of soft and hard I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Late 2005

Lauren could hold ballet positions forever. This approach to shading is tedious and not successful; it is a bad habit I have struggled with for years.
Late 2005

This was drawn from memory and some imagination. Mostly inspired by Lauren.
Summer 2006

Beginning to break some old habits.
Early 2006

A simple sketch, but one I am proud of.
Spring 2006

Exploring shadows.
Spring 2006

Karen is another model who appears frequently in my sketchbooks.
Summer 2006

I deliberately picked an angle with severe foreshortening. Largely successful, with some issues around the upraised leg.
Summer 2006

The same pose as before, with less severe forshortening.
Summer 2006

Karen held this pose for four weekly sessions in a row; I was unable to return after the first night, to my eternal regret.
Summer 2006

Gwendolyn. Five years of living and working on a sailboat does wonders for your back and arms.
Fall 2006

A rare fabric study. Shading practices show improvment throughout 2006.
Fall 2006

Nadia. Trying a new approach to hair.
Early 2007

Nadia had a fascinating figure which defied categorization. Drawing her brought a constant stream of pleasant surprises.
Early 2007

My last session with the Forstall group and my only session with Kari B. I reverted to some old bad habits with regard to shading, but the drawing has much else going for it.
